The Kiipu wetlands, formed by three bacins next to each other, were contructed in August 2012 and in the following winter. The interest and participation of the lake association Kiipunjärven suojeluyhdistys KIPSU ry was the driving force in the creation of demonstrative wetland site.

The second site was constructed to a corner of low laying agricultural land.
The work progressed fast and in three days the first wetland was constructed.
The first basing closest to the lake was excavated to a low laying waterlogged area with no economical value as agricultural or forestry land.
